Welcome to Women of Action
Together we can make our world a better place, starting right here at home!
Together we can make our world a better place, starting right here at home!
Due to the on-going COVID pandemic, we've had to slow down our activities. We've not been scheduling regular meetings, but we hope to get back to that soon! If you are in the Richwood, Ohio, area and would like to connect with us to find out when things are being planned again, please scroll to the end and use the Contact Us feature. Stay safe out there!
We sponsor a very special tree at "Light up the Library" in December
Local Attorney and Union County Commissioner candidate spoke to our group and listened to our concerns
We heard about urgent needs in a nearby community so we gathered supplies and met up to make care packages.
Three Democratic candidates and representatives of action groups joined us for a night of Q & A.
Have you found any of our beautiful uplifting rocks "hidden" around our Richwood Park and in the village?
We love to support the local food pantry and other organizations that help! Women of Action love to be part of the solution.
Women of Action are just like you! We are members of the community who want to make our world a better place for everyone--starting right here at home. Our group was formed in early 2017 when several of us realized that we shared an ideology, a concern for others, and a passion for getting involved. Over the coming months, we built our group, got to know each other better, and began seeking out ways to be a part of making a positive change. Many of us are from Richwood, Ohio--where we hold our meetings--but we reach out to all of our surrounding areas. There are real needs in our world today, but we are not helpless about it. That's why we became Women of Action!
Many of the needs we see in the world are bigger than our little group. But we are Women of Action! By involving ourselves as part of the solution we can truly make a difference. We are devoted to keeping up with political and social issues, being aware of our elected officials and their actions on our behalf, and making ourselves heard when we see the need for a change. We lend our support to leaders and programs that truly serve the community, and we frequently invite community leaders and political candidates to speak to our group. As Advocates for democracy, we recognize that progressive leadership is needed to lead us toward a bright future. We strongly encourage everyone to be educated, be aware, and be involved.
One of our first decisions was to get involved in meeting physical needs in our community. We regularly collect food items for the Richwood Emergency Assistance Program (REAP). We have also volunteered time and made cash donations to the Richwood Personal Needs Pantry and supported their annual distribution of school supplies so local kids can go back to school fully prepared. We have toured community assistance facilities and met with leaders there to learn of their specific needs. For example, when our group heard about hurricane victims taking refuge in our area, we donated furniture, clothing, household items, and children's toys. We've learned that by working together each of us really can make a difference!
Encouragement: we want to help and encourage each other at a politically difficult time;
Education: we want to become better educated about issues through guest speakers and field trips;
Service: we want to serve our community with donations and volunteer efforts as needed;
Support: we want to support larger political organizations and assist with action items.
